OLD BETHPAGE
VILLAGE
RESTORATION

https://www.obvrnassau.com Despite the rain, our trip was a success! The children visited the Noon Inn (restored to 1850) where they enjoyed a rootbeer and pretzel stick. They visited the Loyton General Store where they received an old fashioned candy stick. They saw a blacksmith in action, at his forge, where we were gifted with a homemade hook for the classroom. They visited the local Hatter, as well as Lulu, Long Island's largest pig. We concluded our trip to District No.6 Schoolhouse, restored to 1845 from Manhasset. After hearing that children went to school on Saturdays they felt a little lucky that they did not have to. That feeling was short lived, however when they discovered that these children did not get HOMEWORK! Required help on the family farm took precedence over school. There were many buildings (including the gift shop) as well as activities that they did not get to see or participate in. If you find the time in the summer, it is an enriching family activity. (See flyer below for additional activities.) **************************************************
