Nursery News:

September
What a fun first month of Nursery! We learned so many things! We met new teachers and friends. We talked all about apples, the changes we see in the new season of fall, and how sunflowers grow!  I can’t wait to see what October has in store for us!

October 
Here are some highlights from our fun month of October! 

-What's New?: Small Group Activity implemented weekly.
-Learned all about Fire Safety, had a visit from the Plandome Fire Department, made our own firefighter hats, and painted firetruck pictures.
-LettersCovered C,D,E,F. We learned their names, sounds, words that begin with the letter, and made a craft for each one!

Theme 1: Pumpkins
Arts and crafts:
-Made pumpkins out of different shapes
-Mixed colors (red and yellow to make orange) to finger-paint pumpkins.
Math: Worksheet on counting pumpkins and finding the number.
Science:
-Experiment: Do pumpkins float or sink?
-What’s inside a pumpkin? We cut it open and touched the seeds and pulp!
-Learned about how pumpkins grow.

Theme 2: Halloween
Arts and crafts: We made ghosts, witches, spiders, and painted real pumpkins!
Math: Made spiders we can eat by counting 8 pretzel legs, 8 chocolate chip eyes, and 1 cookie body!
Science: Learned about how many eyes and legs spiders have!
Worksheet: Two column matching with Halloween pictures.

November
Here are some highlights from our fun month of November!

Letters: Covered G,H,I,  We learned their names, sounds, words that begin with the letter, and made a craft for each one!
Themes: Turkeys, Thanksgiving
Crafts:
-Pattern Turkey: Used 2 colors for pattern; counted how many letters in our name while also recognizing them
-We made Pilgrim and Native American head pieces
Worksheets:
-Traced a turkey
-Traced leaves falling to the  ground
STEM (small group):
-Colored a turkey by following the numbers
-Connecting cranberries using toothpicks to make shapes
-Gripping pumpkin seeds using child tweezers and placing the right amount with the corresponding number
Other:
-Learned about the origin of Thanksgiving
-Painted turkeys
