                                 Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer You my prayers, works, joys and
sufferings of this day for all the intentions
of Your Sacred Heart, in union
with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
throughout the world, in reparation for my sins,
for the intentions of all my relatives and friends,
and also for the intentions
of our Holy Father. Amen.

Learn It, Love It, Live It!
This year the children will be studying the
10 Commandments as well as the Beatitudes.
Conscience Formation is a continued focus throughout our year.
"Being truthful and keeping our word, doing the right thing even when no one else is looking, accepting the consequences of our actions and meeting our obligations."
The St. Mary's Student Handbook
This year the children will be studying our beautiful state. Lessons will focus on New York's geography, regions, resources, first people, colonial period, participation in the American Revolution, statehood, participation in the Civil War, and much more.
In addition, the children will receive copies of New York Studies Weekly.  This supplemental newspaper is a great source of informational text.
Parents, check out this website, it gives all
fourth graders free admission to our state parks.

The fourth grade ELA common core curriculum is designed to enable your child to become a more critical reader, writer, and thinker. Our Expeditionary Learning program is committed to creating classrooms where teachers can fulfill their highest aspirations and where students can achieve more than they think possible.  Children will rise to the level of expectation! We will be studying Colonial America, Poetry, Native Americans, Primary Sources, and so much more. In addition, your child's 5 subject ELA notebook has been divided into the following sections: writing, word of the week, grammar, and 2 sections of expeditionary learning.

The Great Book Report Race Is ON!

Monthly book reports are mandatory. The race is to 20 reports, but only 10 are required, but push the envelope. Each due at the end of the month. Please refer to our class calendar, found on our homepage for any due dates as well as assigned genre. Please see that the correct form is used with each report and include a genre specific rubric with finished report. All of these resources can be found in your child's folder.

Just Right Books - If your child is having trouble finding a book, check out this website:

THE READING PROMISE!  Your child is required to read 20 minutes each night. Make the pledge to see that this is done. "Since books were first created, copied by hand beside glowing firelight, many have recognized them for the treasures they really are. There is always time to make the commitment to read and defend reading, and it is a commitment that is always worthwhile." Alice Ozma
